Je sluit zelf je zorgverzekering af, je doet zelf je belastingaangifte, je kiest zelf voor een energieleverancier. Maar voor het afsluiten van een hypotheek maak je een afspraak met een hypotheekadviseur. Dat hoeft nu niet meer! Je kan namelijk eenvoudig zelf online een hypotheek afsluiten waardoor je veel geld kan besparen. Een hypotheek zelf afsluiten, kan ik dat ook? Ja, jij kan dat ook!
De situatie op de huizenmarkt wordt steeds beter. In de afgelopen maanden is het aantal verkochte woningen steeds iets gestegen. Daarnaast zijn er relatief veel mensen die huizen bezichtigen en gaan mensen steeds sneller over tot de aankoop van een huis in populaire gebieden. Hierdoor vallen in de eerste maanden de maandlasten lager uit, maar blijft er aan het einde van de looptijd wel een schuld over. Daarnaast zijn over de gehele periode de kosten hoger dan bij een gewone annuïtaire of lineaire hypotheek.
De minister stelt in zijn brief duidelijk dat de tweede lening uitermate flexibel is. Zo is het niet verplicht om een lening voor precies de helft van de waarde van de woning te nemen. Mensen mogen ook minder lenen en kunnen tussendoor stoppen met de lening. Daarnaast hoeven zij ook niet direct de lening af te sluiten, maar mogen ze dat ook later doen. Die tweede lening is een specifieke afspraak tussen de hypotheekverstrekker en de huizenbezitter. Zo hoeft de looptijd van de lening niet dezelfde looptijd te zijn als de hypotheek. Ook hoeft de rente over het geleende bedrag niet hetzelfde te zijn als de hypotheekrente.

In de eerste maanden van 2013 wordt flink meer afgelost dan vorig jaar in dezelfde periode. De drie grootste hypotheekverstrekkers hebben bijna de helft meer aan extra hypotheekaflossingen ontvangen. Dat meldt de NOS op basis van een rondgang bij Rabobank, ING en ABN Amro.
